STATE REPRESENTATIVE DOUGLAS C. WOZNIAK FILES FOR 24TH DISTRICT STATE SENATE SEAT

Dear Macomb County Friends,

After much consideration and thoughtful input from my constituents, leaders in our shared communities, friends, and family, I am announcing my intention to seek election as your next State Senator serving the 24th District. This Senate District includes Bruce Township, Clinton Township, Macomb Township, Ray Township, Shelby Township, Washington Township, and Romeo in Macomb County. This seat is currently open due to a second round of redistricting resulting from a lawsuit challenging the original maps released after the 2020 census. The new 24th State Senate District resides completely in Macomb County.

I am currently serving my 4th term as a State Legislator in the 59th House District, with experience as a small business owner, attorney, realtor, broker, insurance agent, former Shelby Township Trustee, loving husband, and proud father. I served on the Planning Commission, Construction Board of Appeals, Downtown DDA, and the Local & County Board of Canvassers. I have also served in the State Senate for a short term to fill the vacancy left by former Senator Lucido, before coming back to my current House seat to serve my community in Macomb. In the Senate, I continued to build and champion the issues that I fought for in the House of Representatives. My professional, legislative, and personal experiences have given me valuable insights into what families and businesses value in Macomb County.

I am very proud of the many accomplishments I have achieved in the district and Lansing for the communities I serve. I have been married to Pamela, the love of my life, for 42 years. Our daughter attended Eisenhower, participating in the mass science and technology program, graduated from the U of M Medical School, and is now a pediatrician at U of M. As a Trustee, I helped turn around a deficit into a surplus. As a State Representative, I led the way to fight for local road funding, housing and property issues, auto insurance reform, and probate court reform. I have also been a leader in legislation focused on senior rights, senior care, due process, and government transparency. I have helped seniors, families, and veterans get the benefits and services they rightfully deserve. My office has assisted in thousands of constituent cases over the last few years, striving to offer you efficient government service that our community deserves. As always, I have been, and will continue to be a big supporter of our public schools and understand the valuable economy we have in Macomb County.

I am a public official who firmly believes in common sense conservative principles when making decisions. My 100% attendance and voting record has and will always support you! My focus will always be on seniors, veterans, education, small businesses, homeowners, and all residents of the district.

As we navigate through our challenges in Michigan, we must maintain Macomb County’s economic vitality. The 24th State Senate District encompasses the current boundaries of the 59th House District, which allows me to continue to serve the residents of Shelby and Macomb Townships with common sense conservative leadership. I will continue to bring my vast expertise as a small business owner, experienced public servant, a family man, attorney, and one who already understands the law and legislative processes to the residents throughout Macomb County.

Once again, I humbly ask for your support and consideration in August and November this year as I begin this journey to become your next State Senator and help regain Republican control of the State Senate.
